The Serras Luxury Boutique Hotel is perfectly positioned in one of the most prominent locations in Barcelona. Holding a rich history, this precise building dates to 1846 and played host to one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century in 1896 – Picasso. Not only does it overlook the luxurious Barcelona harbor – el Port Vell, with panoramic views of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea but it is also centered in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic quarter. Famous landmarks such as the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, the Cathedral of Barcelona, the Picasso Museum and La Rambla are only a short walk away.
Comprising 30 luxuriously spacious rooms and suites, The Serras boasts a very high number of configurations for a small boutique hotel. The aim is for flexibility, meaning that suites can be re-arranged depending on guest’s requirements. All rooms have balconies with a range of inspiring views from El Sueño.
Designed with all the eclectic energy of Eva Martinez Torres, renowned Spanish designer, the hotel boasts an understated, but modern and urban design. The look combines current New York and Modern Catalan styles whilst incorporating significant local influences into the design; for instance, exquisite hydraulic tiles, traditionally used as flooring in the homes of Barcelona play a central role as headboards of the beds, with varying motifs depicting different areas of the city. Martinez has also integrated iron and wood to reflect the district’s industrial past. Everything used is of the highest standard, from Hypnos mattresses, used by the British Royal Family, to the latest designs of Hansgrohe Showers, Malin+Goetz amenities in every room and Acqua di Parma amenities and candles in the suites.
The management team were hired specifically with the goal of raising the standard of service for the Barcelona hospitality scene to match that found in London and New York, with an understated but highly personalised guest offering. Antonio Bignone, General Manager and his Deputy, Ona Matas have a wealth of experience having worked in some of London’s best hotels, including The Dorchester, The Ritz and Mandarin Oriental.

Each guest is assigned a Guest Relations Manager who orchestrates their entire stay, from booking to welcoming, hosting and following up, creating an unrivalled personal touch. The hotel is low on rules too; breakfast can be taken at any time of the day and check-in is a relaxed, seated affair with a glass of Champagne.

Despite its seaside location, few hotels have notable outdoor space in Barcelona. The Serras, by contrast, has a beautifully fashionable chill out rooftop called El Sueño with a cocktail pool overlooking the marina, a trendy cocktail bar and 24hr service at Le Nine Bar on the first floor, as well as a Life Fitness gym featuring state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment and personal training services. Barcelona’s golden beaches are less than a 10 minute walk away, while the famous El Born district with its celebrated nightlife, restaurants and bars are just a few steps away.
Inspired by renowned Michelin Star Chef Marc Gascons, the Informal Restaurant has a convivial and relaxed feel with an impeccable service. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu that has been described as fresh, young and informal, but very much Catalan and Mediterranean in style.
Designed for sharing, the menu consists of locally sourced produce from the land and sea. Specialties include shrimp carpaccio, gnocchi with truffle, and Galician beef steak tartar. Everything is designed to make guests feel relaxed, from the open kitchen and grill to the comfortable and personal atmosphere. There is also a private boardroom which can host up to 22 people and has two separate entrances for guests looking to be more discreet.
